A neocultural foray into the past present and future of plants, people and the planet.
From science to mysticism, language to logos, from remembering ancestral roots to envisioning our future blooms.

Maybe our ancestors did not create the boundaries that separate us from the earth, from eachother, from spirit... Maybe we don't have to either. Here is a chance to rediscover the tools that can keep us connected to the earth, to eachother and to the parts of ourselves that we are taught to deny.

May we celebrate the true roots of community, togetherness and union. Let us rediscover a broader sense of community and togetherness to heal deep wounds ecologically, psychologically, emotionally and spiritually and to present new possibilities for living an engaged, aware, and responsible life on our planet in crisis. This event will blur the boundaries between symposium, art show and party; a new kind of event for a new kind of gathering space.

Here's a rough and developing schedule of events:

Friday:

7PM-7:30PM Pramod Parajuli (now a leading author on biocultural sustainability, Pramod grew up living with the land in a small Nepali village and tells ancient Nepali stories that reveal new ways to understand our relationship with the Earth. He started the Portland Institute for Leadership in Ecology, Culture and Learning) (www.piiecl.pdx.edu)
7:30PM-8PM Judy Bluehorse (a modern medicine woman and powerful activist for indigenous rights and culture, she teaches a course at a university in Portland called "sustainability education through a native american lens")
8PM-8:45PM Mark Lakeman. City Repair as a vehicle for applying the wisdom of our ancestors in Portland (www.cityrepair.org).
break

2005 Ambient Alchemy Tour! Experience a fantasia of extreme-cutting-edge musical performances, presented in the emerging genre of “Psychedelic Dub”. These future sounds have a majestic, orchestral quality that will seep deep into your inner landscapes, and awaken a panoramic vision of the future! Ambient Alchemy Tour 2005 features a “dream team” lineup with some of the most highly-regarded psychedelic downtempo producers on the planet, including:

SHULMAN (Aleph Zero, Isreal) - LIVE
Yaniv Shulman’s music is filled with evolving organic layers backed by rich harmonies, that delve deep into oceans of uncharted psychedelia. His latest CD, ‘In Search of a Meaningful Moment,’ astounded the ambient world by reaching an entirely new plateau of emotion and complexity. Shulman’s composition, production and remix skills have frequently drawn comparisons with Shpongle.

PHUTUREPRIMITIVE (Waveform Records, PDX/Eugene) - LIVE
Deep, darkish and downright *massive* tribal dub. An exqusite synthesis of sharp toothed synths, mind-bending effects, soulful vocals and odd time signatures. Phutureprimitive’s spine-tingling sound waves are known for giving goosebumps, and might even cause astral projections. His set at Boom Festival 2004 was a monster hit.

BLUETECH (Native State, Aleph Zero, B.C.) - LIVE
Dub drenched extra-terrestrial flower buds, with alchemical arpeggio stems, and IDM roots. Evan Bluetech has received worldwide critical acclaim, and played peak slots at major international festivals based on the strength of his magical alchemy dubs. Expect a soulful balance of warm, grounding, organic sounds with more mechanical & otherworldly ones.

as i see it..the move to slower BPMs and downtempo is the next step of evoloution BEYOND techno and psychedelic trance... The energy is more easily contained, more acceptable, more "shanti"... and more easily awakened into a wider scope of conscious people... People who will never vibrate at 145bpm++ can often understand dub, and tribal rhtyms that are slower and more easy to soak into.

You can still dance, groove, and have the same trancendent experience... but it is just more mature and sophisticated...

this downtempo relaization what the Oracle Gatherings, the whole B.C. psychedelic scene, and artists like Double Dragon / Human Blue / Etnica / Phutureprimitive / Hallucinogen and so many more are coming to ....

Awakening Native States is going to open a whole new portal of experience and possibilites for the future of the conscious psychedelic scene in Portland!!!

I am very , very proud to have a small part in inviting people to open up this whole New Chapter!

WOW Elliot this sounds amazing. I'm so excited to see our community actively shifting towards creating events with such a diverse format. I've been longing to be involved with events of this intention and scope and I'm so excited for the collaborations and connections that will be coming together before during and after this event.

Brett, I feel you sooo much on the downtempo vibe. I DO love letting go into psytrance but I also feel like there are so many amazing beings we are not connecting with simply because they can't resonate with psy trance. I was overwhelmed with joy to see the turn out at the Paradigm Shift event. SO many walks of life living the same core spirit and a huge influence on that was combining so many different genres of music. This is one of the intentions that synergy originally started out with but due to group dynamics (and other such issues that many of you have experienced in your own promoting path) things are not moving in that direction. The few events where we did manifest this intention were amazing! and I feel the energy of this event and the current that is guiding it just building to incredible heights.

I feel so blessed to be a part of this community and I long to devote more energy into assisting our initiation and evolution into our future unified selves.

~so much love to all of you~ and SOOOO much thanks for bringing this event into fruition.
